Cheers to The Conners
for a Thanksgiving that we can be grateful for. The ABC series has always served comedy with a side of drama, but on Nov. 19, it delivered a boldly bittersweet holiday episode in which Jackie and Darlene (Laurie Metcalf and Sara Gilbert) went toe-to-toe-to-slap over their long-simmering resentments of each other.
Cheers to Chicago P.D.
for approaching #Upstead with caution. The slow-burn romantic situation between Windy City detectives Jay Halstead and Hailey Upton (Jesse Lee Soffer and Tracy Spiridakos) has been a thrill. We’re OK if it takes longer for them to get together, especially if it means even more heat once the Dick Wolf show comes back from winter hiatus.
Jeers to Hulu
for abandoning Marvel’s Runaways. The superhero teen drama starring (from left) Allegra Acosta, Virginia Gardner, Gregg Sulkin, Ariela Barer and a whole ensemble of impressive young actors will be vanquished by Hulu after its third season, marking the end of the best escapist TV that Marvel has delivered so far.
Jeers to The Good Doctor ‘s Shaun
(Freddie Highmore) for romantic malpractice. The savant in scrubs may be a genius, but his decision to visit his dying father with flirty pal Lea (Paige Spara) instead of girlfriend Carly (Jasika Nicole) was Ill-advised. In fact, we’re downright sick about it.
