A West Windsor Township man who was previously indicted for burglarizing homes in Princeton and Lawrence, West Windsor, Hopewell and Robbinsville townships, has been indicted for breaking into more homes in West Windsor and Plainsboro townships, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
Billy M. Woodard, 54, of West Windsor Township, was indicted on burglary charges earlier this month by a Mercer County grand jury in connection with three break-ins in West Windsor Township and two break-ins in Plainsboro Township, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Woodard was apprehended as he was committing a burglary in Lower Makefield Township in Bucks County, Pa., on May 30. He is still in custody in Bucks County, Pa., where he has been charged with numerous burglaries.
Woodard had been indicted in September on a 55-count indictment charging him with six burglaries in Princeton, four burglaries apiece in Lawrence and Robbinsville townships, two burglaries in Hopewell Township and 19 burglaries in West Windsor Township, the prosecutor’s office said.
He was also indicted on numerous theft charges in relation to the burglaries.
Woodard embarked on the burglary spree between June 2018 and May 2019, when he was captured as he was burglarizing a home in Bucks County, Pa. In almost every instance, the burglaries took place at night while the victims were at home and asleep.
An investigation into the burglaries, launched by the West Windsor Police Department’s Detective Bureau, linked Woodard to 22 burglaries in the township.
The investigation is on-going, and the West Windsor Police Department and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office are asking residents to be vigilant and to report anything unusual to the local police department.
