Freeform will premiere its new drama series Party of Five on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, with a two-hour episode. The series follows the five Acosta children as they navigate daily life struggles to survive as a family unit after their parents are suddenly deported back to Mexico. In a new iteration, this beloved story of a young family bound by adversity will be retold through the lens of current-day themes and cultural conversations. The series stars Brandon Larracuente as Emilio Acosta, Emily Tosta as Lucia Acosta, Niko Guardado as Beto Acosta and Elle Paris Legaspi as Valentina Acosta. Bruno Bichir and Fernanda Urrejola star as the Acosta parents, Javier and Gloria.

Science Channel will premiere the new season of Impossible Engineering on Wednesday, Jan. 1, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. It’s easy to take for granted the extraordinary structures, public works and architectural wonders in our everyday lives, but they are indeed remarkable feats of human ingenuity and 21st century technology. This season, viewers will journey to Dubai, London, Whistler, Rotterdam and beyond as experts examine some of the most mind-blowing engineering marvels around the world.

Comedy superstar Ricky Gervais, in his unique and legendary fashion, will resume hosting duties for a record fifth time at the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The three-hour telecast will air live on NBC coast-to-coast Sunday, Jan. 5, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. The Golden Globes serve as the official kickoff to the 2020 awards season. 25 categories (14 in film and 11 in television) are voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

HGTV will ring in 2020 with a relax and recover, must-see lineup of New Year’s Day programming. The Jan. 1 schedule kicks off with A Very Brady Renovation marathon at 7 a.m. ET/PT. Then starting at 11 a.m. ET/PT, it’s a My Lottery Dream Home marathon. At 6:30 p.m. ET/PT, the pilot premiere of Self-Made Mansions will air. Also of note, is the airing of HGTV Dream Home Special 2020 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, followed by a Property Brothers: Forever Home premiere at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Then at 10 p.m. ET/PT, it’s a 100 Day Dream Home premiere, followed at 11 p.m. ET/PT with a HGTV House Party premiere.
