Group homes comply with stringent regulations

Typing Letter to the Editor for the Opinion page.

A state Assembly bill regarding residential health care facilities (A-5795) would not affect group homes. We would like to take this opportunity to clarify the difference between residential health care facilities and group homes to Manalapan Mayor Susan Cohen and your readers.

Residential health care facilities are not licensed by the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and have less stringent regulation and oversight than DDD-licensed group homes.

Residential health care facilities are generally for profit and operated with less connection to the local community.
