The East Windsor Township Council reorganization meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the East Windsor Township Municipal Building on Lanning Boulevard.

In Hightstown Borough, Steven Misiura and Joshua Jackson will be sworn in for three-year terms on the Hightstown Borough Council. Joseph Cicalese will be sworn in to fill out a one-year unexpired term.

All three are Democrats.

Misiura said there is much unfinished business, such as the new Hightstown Borough Hall that is in the works to replace the building that was flooded by Hurricane Irene in 2011. He also cited the redevelopment of the former rug mill property.

Jackson, who was appointed to fill out an unexpired term earlier this year, won election to his first full term. He said he loves Hightstown Borough and wants to see the town move in the right direction. There are many projects under way, and he wants to be part of it, he said.

Cicalese said he likes the family atmosphere of Hightstown Borough. And he wants to do what he can to maintain it.

In other business at the Hightstown Borough Council reorganization meeting, the governing body will set its meeting dates, office hours and holidays for 2020. It will also appoint various borough officials and award professional service contracts.

In East Windsor Township, four newly elected East Windsor Township Council members will be sworn into office for four-year terms at the annual reorganization meeting.

The largely ceremonial meeting will include administering the oath of office to Marc Lippman, Janice S. Mironov, Peter Yeager and John Zoller. All are Democrats.

The East Windsor Township Council will choose its mayor from among its members. The mayor’s post is ceremonial.

Appointments will be made to advisory board and committees, including the Clean Communities Advisory Committee, the Commission on Aging, the Economic Development Committee, the Environmental Committee, the Health Advisory Board, the East Windsor Planning Board, the Recreation Commission and the East Windor Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Lippman said the governing body has focused on improving the quality of life for residents. He is passionate about making East Windsor Township an exceptional place to live and raise a family.

Mironov said she and her running mates had “an accomplished and proud record of governing and building community through being responsive, communicative, outreaching and accessible.”

Yeager said his attendance at community events has allowed him to stay in touch with township residents, so he can better represent their perspective. They want the township to grow, while still keeping municipal property taxes as low as possible.

Zoller is the council’s liaison to the Economic Development Committee, the Environmental Commission and the Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse, and he is looking forward to supporting those programs and others that enhance the quality of life for residents.
