HOWELL – A resident of Jackson has been arrested following his alleged involvement in a stabbing incident in Howell.
According to the Howell Police Department, at 11 p.m. Dec. 27, the department was notified by the Lakewood Police Department that two individuals who had been stabbed had been transported to Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus, Lakewood. The individuals were brought to the hospital in private vehicles, police said.
The injured individuals were reported to be a 26-year-old male from Brick Township and a 27-year-old male from Howell. The men were reported to have received stab wounds during a physical altercation on Ford Road in Howell.
Howell police officers responded to the hospital in Lakewood and determined the man from Howell received an injury to his hand and the man from Brick Township sustained stab wounds to his back. Police said the men’s injuries were not considered to be life threatening.
Howell police said the suspect in the incident was identified as a 26-year-old male resident of Jackson. An investigation revealed the male resident of Jackson became aggressive with a woman at a house party on Ford Road.
Police said the resident of Howell and the resident of Brick Township intervened and a physical altercation ensued. Police said the male resident of Jackson pulled out a knife and stabbed both men.
Howell police said that in the aftermath of the incident, the suspect was contacted and offered the opportunity to turn himself in, but did not do so.
On Dec. 30, the Jackson Police Department reported the suspect was observed by patrol officers at a residence on Westlake Court on the evening of Dec. 28. The man was taken into custody at that time, according to Jackson police.
In connection with his alleged involvement in the incident in Howell the previous evening, the Jackson man was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of a weapon, according to Howell police.
