Manalapan Police Beat, Jan. 15

The Manalapan Police Department reported the following incidents occurred in the municipality:

• On Dec. 21 at 10:20 a.m., a Manalapan resident reported an incident of theft. The resident told police he contacted a cellular support agency after experiencing problems with his cellular phone. The resident was advised by an unknown individual representing the cellular support agency to purchase several gift cards. Police said the incident was determined to be a fraudulent phone scam.

• On Dec. 30 at 11:44 p.m., a Manalapan resident reported an incident of criminal mischief. The resident told police a group of unknown individuals threw pumpkins at the exterior of her residence.

• On Dec. 31 at 6:47 p.m., patrols responded to a residence on Heron Court in reference to a report of criminal mischief. A Manalapan resident reported that on Dec. 30 and Dec. 31, an unknown individual slashed four tires and broke a rear view mirror on his vehicle.

• On Dec. 30 at 11:22 a.m., patrols responded to a storage facility on Wilson Avenue in reference to a report of burglary. A Woodbridge resident reported that two storage units were broken into during the overnight hours. Several items were removed from the storage units.

• On Dec. 28 at 12:40 a.m., Patrolman Ryan Brady conducted a motor vehicle stop on Millhurst Road for a motor vehicle violation. The driver, who was identified as a 28-year-old female resident of Marlboro, was charged with driving under the influence and being in possession of controlled dangerous substances. The woman was arrested, transported to police headquarters, processed and released.

• On Dec. 26 at 3:19 p.m., a Manalapan resident reported an incident of theft. The resident told police an unknown amount of jewelry and cash had been removed from her residence sometime over the past several years.

• On Dec. 25 at 7:13 p.m., patrols responded to a business on Route 33 in reference to a report of an assault. The alleged victims, a 58-year-old resident of Manalapan and a 29-year-old resident of Manalapan, reported that one woman and two men assaulted them inside the business. The two residents were not injured and were unable to identify the offenders. Patrolman John Lightbody handled the report.
