A new president has been selected to lead the Upper Freehold Regional School District Board of Education for 2020.
The district serves school-age residents of Upper Freehold Township and Allentown and consists of the Newell Elementary School, the Stone Bridge Middle School and Allentown High School.
High school age residents of Millstone Township attend Allentown High School through a send-receive agreement between Upper Freehold Regional and the Millstone Township K-8 School District.
The Upper Freehold Regional board consists of seven residents from Upper Freehold and two residents from Allentown. A representative from Millstone Township sits on the board and votes on matters that pertain to Allentown High School.
At the board’s annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 8, the three winning candidates in the Nov. 5 election – incumbent Wil Borkowski of Allentown and newcomers Christine Ciccarone and Vanessa DePompo, both of Upper Freehold – were sworn in to begin serving three-year terms.
After all members were seated, the board held elections for the positions of president and vice president.
Patrick Nolan of Upper Freehold was nominated to serve as president in 2020 and was elected by his colleagues. He has been a board member since 2012.
Michele Anthony of Upper Freehold, who served as vice president in 2019, was nominated to hold the position for 2020 and was elected by her fellow board members. Anthony has been a board member since 2016.
Nolan, Anthony, Borkowski, Ciccarone and DePompo are joined on the school board by Howard Krieger of Upper Freehold, Kurt Wayton of Allentown, Brett Williams of Upper Freehold and Michael Zuppa of Upper Freehold. Billy Hanson is the Millstone Township representative.
