For the 2019-20 school year, the East Brunswick Police Department has been implementing a prevention education and character development program for all fifth graders called “Too Good for Drugs.” The program plants seeds of healthy eating and healthy living. The curriculum and material is provided by the Mendez Foundation. This evidence-based, skill building program makes a positive impact on the students, teachers, parents and the community.
The 10-week program is comprised of 10 lessons. The first five lessons are skill development and the second five are skill application.
Parents/guardians of all fifth graders from Lawrence Brook, Memorial, Bowne-Munro and Chittick elementary schools are asked to attend the first LEAD (Law Enforcement Against Drugs) Appreciation Night, set for 7-8 p.m. on Jan. 27 at the Jo Ann Magistro Performing Arts Center, located inside Hammarskjold Middle School, 200 Rues Lane, East Brunswick.
