Hillsborough Township Committeeman Frank DelCore was honored recently for his services to the community.

DelCore, committeeman and former township mayor, was recognized at a Jan. 14 committee meeting where municipal officials awarded him with a proclamation after he had been honored by the Boy Scouts of America Patriots’ Path Council last year.

When the Boy Scouts held its  “Toast to Scouting Awards Dinner” on Nov. 21, the organization recognized DelCore along with other recipients at the event with an award.

Officials said this award recognizes recipients for their community service as evidenced by their leadership and interests within the community, and for their embodiment of the values of the century-old Scout Oath and Law in their personal and professional lives.

Following his reception of honors from both the scouts and township committee, DelCore said at the January meeting that he was not only thankful for the recognition, but explained the significance of the Boy Scouts’ role in the township.

“I am much more comfortable on the giving end of these proclamations than I am with receiving them,” DelCore joked. “It is really special to be recognized by the Boy Scouts because of the work that they do, the type of organization they are and the tremendous impact that they have on the community.”

DelCore has been a member of the Hillsborough Township Committee for the past 12 years. In 2019, he served as mayor making it his fifth time leading the township. He has also served on numerous local boards and commissions including the Hillsborough Township Planning Board; Parks and Recreation Commission; Sustainable Hillsborough Commission; and the Open Space Committee.

“The Hillsborough Township Committee recognizes and congratulates Frank DelCore for his outstanding service as 2019 mayor and for being honored by the Boy Scouts of America for his dedicated service to his profession and community,” Hillsborough Township Mayor Doug Tomson said.

Outside of his municipal service, DelCore has lived in Hillsborough since 2001 with his wife and their two daughters. He holds an MBA in Finance from Rutgers University Graduate School of Management, along with a B.A. Degree in Communications from Rutgers University.

He is also a corporate real estate and finance professional having served in several senior leadership roles within the telecommunications and banking industries. He is a real estate and finance professional currently employed by Nokia Corp, Murray Hill, as the North America Real Estate Leader. Prior to joining Nokia/Alcatel Lucent, he held a vice president position for Fleet Bank.

DelCore served Hillsborough as mayor in 2009, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, and as deputy mayor in 2008.  During his time as a municipal official, he has also served as liaison to the Capital Planning Committee; Recreation Commission; Police Department; Rescue Squad; Emergency Management; Economic & Business Development Commission; Municipal Alliance; Historic Preservation; Planning Board; Sign Review Committee; and Sustainable Hillsborough Commission.
