The 12 newest Middlesex County sheriff’s officers come from a variety of backgrounds, are graduates of Mercer County Police Academy, and all went through 21 weeks of training from Sept. 3, 2019, through Jan. 23.
“We are proud to welcome these 12 new sheriff’s officers to our ranks,” said Middlesex County Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios in a statement released by the Middlesex County Office of Communication on Jan. 28. “Their training, accompanied by Sheriff Scott’s leadership, will be great assets to our county as they take on the responsibility of keeping our residents safe.”
Among the new recruits, three have an associate’s degree, seven have bachelor’s degrees, and one has a master’s degree. Three of these new members are women.
The officers as of Jan. 23 are: Lawrence Lenahan Jr. and Christian Paez, both of Sayreville; Jeremy Vargas of Colonia; Helder Paredes of Monroe; Jennifer Lukacs of Perth Amboy; Devin Gray of Milltown; Jaquan Cook and Taylor Clanton, both of Piscataway; Antonios Zaferellis of South River; Danae Rebelo of Middlesex, who earned the firearms qualification award with a perfect score; Islam Saad of Parlin; and Jessica Tymitz of Fords.
“I congratulate each of our new officers and wish them continued success in their careers,” Sheriff Mildred S. Scott said in the statement.
