MILLSTONE – After holding the position of vice president for three consecutive years, the longest-serving consecutive member of the Millstone Township K-8 School District Board of Education will lead the panel as president for the first time in 2020.
The board held its annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 6 and the three winning candidates from the Nov. 5 election – newcomers Amrita Singh, Shannon Pulaski and Mary Waskovich – were sworn in to begin serving three-year terms.
After all of the members were seated, the board held elections for the positions of president and vice president.
Melissa Riviello was nominated to serve as president in 2020 and was elected by her colleagues. Riviello served as the panel’s vice president from 2017-19. She joined the board in 2013 and has the longest consecutive term of all current board members.
John Saxton has the longest combined time of all current board members, having first served on the board from 2010-16 before rejoining the panel in 2019.
Cynthia Bailey was nominated to serve as vice president in 2020 and was elected by her fellow board members. She has been a board member since 2014.
The board oversees the operation of the Millstone Township Primary School, the Millstone Township Elementary School and the Millstone Township Middle School.
Because the district does not have a high school for students in grades nine through 12, Millstone students of high school age may attend Allentown High School in the Upper Freehold Regional School District through a send-receive relationship.
Riviello, Bailey, Singh, Pulaski, Waskovich and Saxton are joined on the board by Peter Bonafide, Billy Hanson and Christine Reese.
