FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – A contract has been awarded by the Township Committee to a firm that will install a new emergency generator at the Freehold Township Police Department.
Township Administrator Peter Valesi said the current generator at police headquarters will be replaced because it is beyond its useful life, not functioning reliably and not responding with the transfer switch.
On Jan. 28, committee members awarded a $153,854 contract to Sodon’s Electric Inc., Atlantic Highlands, following the recommendation of Mott MacDonald, the township’s professional engineer, and the director of information technology and facilities.
Sodon’s Electric Inc. was the lowest bidder for the contract to replace the existing unit.
Other bids for the work were submitted by Alpine East Electric, LLC, ($267,000); Cypreco Industries Inc., ($257,000); Electrical Design and Construction Corp., ($207,300); Breaker Electric Inc., ($191,300); Manor II Electric Inc., ($190,000); Hanna’s Mechanical Contractors Inc., ($189,700); LaManna Electric Inc., ($185,952); Astro Electrical Contractor, LLC, ($180,600); Innovative Electrical Contracting Inc., ($172,489); and Dee-En Electrical Contracting Corp., ($165,900).
In other business, committee members declared acceptance and final payment of a contract with Breaker Electric for automatic transfer switch replacement at the Jackson Mills Road water treatment plant.
The final payment to Breaker Electric was $54,600 and the committee’s action followed the completion of the project, according to a resolution.
Finally, committee members authorized the Monmouth County Mosquito Control Division to conduct aerial mosquito control operations in Freehold Township.
According to a resolution, the county is authorized to apply pesticides by aircraft for mosquito control in certain areas of Freehold Township designated by the county as being either larval mosquito habitat or areas harboring high populations of mosquitoes constituting either a nuisance, a health hazard, or both.
