A Somerset man was charged in an indictment for crimes of bias intimidation and making terrorist threats toward police officers.
Daniel McDonald, 25, was indicted for one count of first-degree bias intimidation, one count of second-degree bias intimidation, and two counts of making terroristic threats in the third degree, according to information provided by Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L. C. Kuberiet.
The indictment was handed up on Feb. 6 following a presentation to the grand jury by Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Russell Curley.
McDonald was charged following an investigation by the Jamesburg Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
On Dec. 23, 2019, in Jamesburg, police were dispatched to respond to an incident on Stockton Avenue involving a disturbance in a parked car. As police were speaking to McDonald, he allegedly became belligerent toward the police officers. He allegedly continued to yell and curse at police with threatening language, racial slurs and profanities, according to the statement. When placed in the rear of a police vehicle, he allegedly attempted to kick out the window of the police car and was then arrested, according to the statement.
At police headquarters, McDonald allegedly continued to threaten acts of violence against police officers, according to reports.
