METUCHEN – It’s not everyday that musician Sir Paul McCartney casually strolls down Main Street, but when he does, it causes local stir on social media.

“The visit of Sir Paul McCartney is a tribute to the hard work of our Metuchen business owners, volunteers, residents, commissions and partners over the past few years to create a stage worthy for this musical legend to see and be seen,” said Isaac Kremer, executive director of the Metuchen Downtown Alliance. “It’s no surprise that John Manzo of Be My Guest captured this iconic photo. His business is part of the innovative spirit that makes Metuchen such a great place to visit and to do business today.”

Manzo, who is a borough resident and owns a healthy meal delivery and catering company business, Be My Guest, on Pearl Street, snapped the Beatle as he casually strolled in front of Buttery Bake Shoppe on Feb. 23. The photo has been circulating around local social media sites.

Mayor Jonathan Busch posted the photo on his social media site. He stated “As Spring is approaching, the borough is getting reports of ‘Beatles’ on Main Street. There is no reason for alarm. Everything is under control.”

McCartney, who earned world-wide fame as a co-lead vocalist and bassist for the English rock band The Beatles in the 1960s, has ties to the surrounding area. His wife Nancy Shevell, who he married in 2011, grew up in neighboring Edison Township.
