Driver charged in Metuchen hit-and-run

METUCHEN – A man has been charged in a hit-and-run accident that took place in Metuchen during the early morning hours of March 2.

Paddy Flynn, 18, of Toms River, was charged with aggravated assault in the second degree, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury in the third degree, and various motor vehicle summonses, according to information provided by Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L.C. Kuberiet  and Chief David Irizarry of the Metuchen Police Department.

The continuing investigation determined that on March 2 at approximately 9:01 a.m., Flynn was driving a white Ford F 250 pickup truck and allegedly struck a utility worker in the crosswalk at the intersection of Middlesex and Grove avenues. He then allegedly fled the scene, according to reports.

The 51-year old utility worker from Whippany remained in critical condition, as of press time.

Flynn is scheduled for his initial court appearance via video in New Brunswick Superior Court.
