Hillsborough officials commend cheerleading squads for achievements

The Hillsborough Dukes Jr Pee Wee Cheerleaders were recognized by Hillsborough Township officials at a Feb. 25 committee meeting for having achieved a successful 2019 season.

The Hillsborough Township Committee recognized a pair of local cheerleading groups on their respective successful 2019 seasons at a recent meeting.

Hillsborough officials recognized the 2019 Hillsborough Dukes JV and Jr Pee Wee Cheerleaders for their successful seasons at a Feb. 25 township committee meeting.

The Dukes JV Cheerleaders were Conference Champions and New Jersey State Champions. They also placed second in the Eastern Region and National Championships, and they made and delivered over 100 bagged lunches to Elijah’s Promise Soup Kitchen in New Brunswick, and held a paper goods drive.

Meanwhile, the Jr Pee Wee Cheerleaders placed first at the Central Jersey Pop Warner Cheer Competition, Garden State Pop Warner Cheer Competition, and Eastern Region Pop Warner Cheer Competition. They came in second place at the Pop Warner National Cheer Competition.

Hillsborough Township Deputy Mayor Shawn Lipani commended both squads for their achievements and successes in separate statements at the February meeting.

“The township committee commends the Hillsborough Dukes JV Cheerleaders, the coaches and parents, not only for their successful season, but for their hard work, dedication and commitment to those principles of good sportsmanship, teamwork and academic achievement which the organization endorses,” Lipani said.

The 2019 Hillsborough Dukes JV Cheerleaders consisted of the following young athletes: Grace Donato; Hannah Fields; Addison Figel; Ashley Figliolo; Emily Florek; Abby Grouss; Carly Janaszak; Olivia Leon; Katherine Maddox; Hannah-Rose Mankowski; Jozlyn Miranda; Emily Margelis; Olivia McCarthy; Grace Perkins; Alyssa Petti; Bella Potts; Taylor Rengenye; Lexi Scott; Ariel Shvetz; and Ella Surris.

The JV squad was led by coaches Noelle Creekmur; Kelly Black; Nicole Figliolo; Dana Margelis; Liane Regenye; Danielle Scott; Maggie Bardwil; Hannah Monyer; and Tayler Rastelli.

The 2019 Hillsborough Dukes Jr Pee Wee Cheerleaders consisted of the following young athletes: Isabelle Antonelli; Grace Aull; Gianna Carlson; Jayla Chaparro; Samantha Churco; Chloe Cuevas; Lily Cuevas; Lilliana Desrosiers; Daniella Ercolino; Summer Fields; Heather Finnigan; Samantha Grohe; Brianna Heery; Lucia Heiser; Bailey McCarthy; Caydence Pinkett; Sophia Rollan; Demitria Rott; and Emma Skobo.

The Jr Pee Wee squad was led by coaches Catherine Grohe; Kelly Black; Stephanie Carlson; Kelly Heery; Amy Applegate; Keyonie Black; Abigail Glazewski; Gillian Prince; Makaylah Williams; and Cheer Commissioner Danielle Scott.
