SPOTSWOOD – The Spotswood Police Department will be implementing changes to its normal operations due to the coronavirus outbreak:

If you and/or a current or former member of your household are displaying signs of a respiratory illness to include fever, cough, difficulty breathing and shortness of breath, notify police dispatch so officers can utilize the proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) when responding to your home.

For a call for service to the Spotswood Police Department, officers will request to speak with you outside of your home to gather proper information.

Officers have been instructed to keep a 6-foot interview distance from everyone when possible. This is in accordance with recommendations given by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which is also a universal precaution being recommended to the public as well.

For minor calls for service such as thefts, criminal mischief, harassment complaint, etc., an officer may not respond to your home, rather the officer will contact you by phone to gather pertinent information to complete an Investigation Report. You will receive a case number and officer’s name for future reference.

Do not come to the Spotswood Police Department if you are ill. If you need to make a report it can be done over the phone.

These changes apply to non-life threatening calls for service only. In an emergency, dial 9-1-1.
