Fifth annual Student Art Month Exhibit deemed a success in Edison

EDISON – The Edison Arts Society held its fifth annual Student Art Month Exhibit on March 4 at the Edison Arts Society Gallery in the Edison Municipal Building.

Students from John P. Stevens High School and Woodrow Wilson Middle School showcased their various art pieces. The event was juried by Pat Rubin from PM Studios in Edison.

The winners from J.P. Stevens include first place, “Gaze” by Allison Yu; second place, “Sunny at the Park” by Dukshita Oku; third place, “Broken Angel” by Christina Chen; and honorable mention “Fraise.”

The students were under the direction of teachers Susan Kacani, Alison Paolello, Kristen Pellegrino and Sherry Yee.

The winners from Woodrow Wilson include first place Swastika Dahinwal, second place Allison Epstein, third place Ruhi Patel and honorable mention Sia Mittal.

The students were under the direction of teachers Melissa Molnar and Brian Romeo.

JP Stevens ceramic winners included blue ribbon Olivia Kwan, red ribbon Rachel Chempiel and white ribbon Emmanuel Lu.

Woodrow Wilson ceramics winners include blue ribbon Mohitabh Bhan, red ribbon Sain Suhas Chekka and white ribbon Germaima Poole.

During the exhibit, visitors were entertained with arrangements from The String Quartet of JP Stevens under the direction of Dr. Brian Verdi, orchestra director.
