MATAWAN–The Borough Council approved a resolution authorizing the appointment of Scott Carew as the municipality’s new part-time interim business administrator.

Mayor Joseph Altomonte said the borough’s current administrator, Louis Ferrara, is leaving to take a position with a larger municipality closer to his home. Appointed to the position on Feb. 18, 2013, Altomonte said Ferrara’s last day will be March 30.

The council approved the resolution to appoint Carew on March 19 during the council meeting, which took place via phone conference.

“Scott Carew is expected to be appointed temporary administrator at [the March 19] meeting, he is being appointed for three months,” Altomonte said. “We are looking for him to start on March 20.”

Altomonte said the borough has contracted with Government Strategies Group to do a search for a new full-time administrator.

“[Myself] and the council would like to wish Ferrara well in his new position. He has done a great job, thank you,” Altomonte said.
