“COVID-19 has caused suffering in communities across the globe and upended our way of lives. I wish I could say Middlesex County is immune to the immense impact of the disease, but I cannot. It is with great sorrow that I report that the disease has claimed the life of one of our own – a Middlesex County resident – a female in her 90s. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family and friends. While we grieve as a community, we must remember that this is not a time to panic, but a time to continue to be diligent in our preventative measures. While COVID-19 impacts our friends, family, and neighbors, we must remember that we are all still just that – friends, family, and neighbors – and at a time like this, we find solace in the strength and power of our community,” Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios said in a prepared statement on March 21.

No further information was released on the patient.

The South Brunswick Office of Emergency Management was notified on the evening of March 21 that two more residents have tested positive for coronavirus. A male in his 60s and a female in her 40s are both recovering at home under self quarantine, according to information provided by OEM. The total in South Brunswick is up to six.

North Brunswick has reported five positive cases: ages 58, 49, 38 and two in their 60s, as of March 21.
