MONROE – Mayor Gerard Tamburro said he will be “thinking” and “praying” for all residents to have the strength to get through difficult times ahead of Easter and Passover.
“I know with our hard work, there will be better days ahead,” he said.
Tamburro in his daily message on April 4 said people keep calling and emailing him every day for good news as it relates to COVID-19.
“Unfortunately, based on science, the worst is yet to come, and as hard as it is to stay home, our health and our community literally depends on it,” he said.
Tamburro said it be an especially hard week for him to continue to not see his family during Holy Week.
“I will miss my kids and my grandkids at Easter Dinner very much,” he said. “I know you will too. And for many, this week is Passover, and many will miss having their seders with their extended family.”
Monroe officials reported six new positive COVID-19 cases on April 4, bringing the total number of cases to 131, according to the Monroe Township Office of Emergency Management.
The cases include one male, an 84-year-old, and five females, a 26-year-old, a 43-year-old, a 75-year-old, a 77-year-old, and a 78-year-old.
