WOODBRIDGE – Woodbridge’s total positive COVID-19 cases reaches 254 after a report of 60 new cases, according to Mayor John McCormac in his daily report on April 4.
The cases range in age from 17 to 86 with still no clustering in any particular area of town.
“Our last two days have been our worst two days so far,” McCormac said. “We also know of the passing of a 92-year-old Iselin woman who was a long-time resident from this disease. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers.”
The impact of the coronavirus hit home this past week with the passing of a number of residents of the St. Joseph’s Seniors Home, a 48-year-old employee of the Woodbridge Township Public Works Department and a 48-year-old Colonia man.
The township reported two earlier deaths, which included an 85-year-old female.
McCormac said information is starting to flow about various federal and state programs to help those in need.
“Some involve direct payments to citizens,” he said. “None involve any government officials calling you up to let you know how to get this funding. We are cautioning our residents to be very careful, especially senior citizens, regarding these programs. If someone is calling you up or mailing you to tell you they will help get money to you, chances are they are just trying to get money from you. Please do not give out any personal, financial or banking information to anyone over the phone or through the mail. It’s a shame, but people will try to take advantage of this crisis by preying on others so please do not let this happen to you.”
