YMCA of MEWSA announces child care for essential employees

The YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge & South Amboy will provide quality, licensed, emergency child care services for essential employees with children ages 0-12 years.

Child care services will be provided at the Edison YMCA, 1775 Oak Tree Road, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The service is open to the community, and you do not need to be a member of the YMCA to register your child(ren).

While essential employees include first responders, healthcare workers, law enforcement, military and emergency management personnel, they also include workers at essential retail businesses such as grocery store clerks, gas station attendants and banks.

Enhanced safety measures will include having children dropped off in front of the building, temperature and symptom screenings of all staff and children prior to entering the building, social distancing through groups of no larger than ten and increased cleaning and sanitizing.

Children will also be asked to bring their own meals, snacks and supplies to prevent cross-contamination.

The facility currently has the capacity to serve 50 children at this time.

Financial assistance is also available.
