Nearly 840 Mercer County residents, including more than 100 East Windsor Township residents, have tested positive for COVID-19, and 24 county residents have died, Mercer County officials announced on April 7.
As of April 6, 140 East Windsor residents had contracted COVID-19, based on information released by the New Jersey Department of Health. It is not known how many of the 24 residents who have died were East Windsor residents.
Contact tracing, including information gathering, is underway on new cases and is continuing on the remaining ones, as needed, Mercer County officials said.
Mercer County opened an appointment-only, drive-through testing site March 31 in a parking lot at the Quaker Bridge Mall in Lawrence Township. The testing site is a collaborative effort between Mercer County and several Mercer County hospitals.
The testing site is restricted to Mercer County residents who have shown symptoms of COVID-19, and who have obtained a physician’s prescription for testing. The turnaround time for results is 48 to 72 hours.
Meanwhile, Mercer County residents who have contracted COVID-19 can obtain a combination of drugs to treat their symptoms through a partnership between Greenhill Pharmacy and East Windsor, Hamilton and Robbinsville townships. The pharmacy is located on Hickory Corner Road in East Windsor.
The drug combination of hydroxychloroquine sulfate and the antibiotic Zithromax is being made available to all Mercer County residents who have obtained a prescription for it through their physician.
The Federal Drug Administration has issued an emergency-use authorization for the drug combination to treat and mitigate the impacts of COVID-19.
