MONROE – Monroe officials reported 20 new positive COVID-19 cases on April 7, bringing the total number of cases to 156, according to the Monroe Township Office of Emergency Management.
The cases include 11 males – a 44 year old, a 45 year old, a 48 year old, a 50 year old, a 55 year old, a 61 year old, a 67 year old, a 72 year old, a 73 year old, an 81 year old and a male with an unknown age.
And nine females – a 45 year old, a 50 year old, a 54 year old, a 57 year old, a 59 year old, a 63 year old, a 65 year old, an 82 year old and an 85 year old.
One resident is in the hospital and all other residents are on home isolation.
Mayor Gerald Tamburro said following the state’s executive order to close all state and county parks and forests, the township will also close municipal parks temporarily.
“Feel free to go for a walk, ride your bike, sit outside in your yard or do some gardening,” he said. “But please refrain from contact with those outside your current household. Monroe is only as strong as those who follow this guidance. We are all impacted when residents don’t follow the rules and I appreciate your continued cooperation as we fight this extraordinary health crisis.”
The COVID-19 drive-thru testing site at MyInstaDoc, 298 Applegarth Road, will serve pre-registered patients from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and drive-up patients from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Testing resumes on April 9.
