WOODBRIDGE – Woodbridge officials reported 31 new positive COVID-19 cases, which brings total COVID-19 cases to 459, Mayor John McCormac said in his daily report on April 8.
“There is certainly nothing good about 31 more residents getting sick, but it’s the lowest day in the last six after we reported 63, 60, 47, 80 and 39 from Friday through yesterday,” he said. “The next few days will tell us a lot about whether we and the state and the country have hit the peak of the curve, but for two days at least the numbers are not the worst we have seen. We are still trending below the state averages.”
The mayor said a list of religious services will be available on television and online over the next few weeks from local houses of worship starting on April 9.
“The response by our clergy and their offices has been terrific and we want people to have a chance to pray during this time when many sacred holidays occur during the month of April,” he said.
McCormac, in his report, recognized the accredited Woodbridge Police Department.
“The men and women of our police force are brave and dedicated and they are working incredibly hard for all of us,” he said. “They are on the front lines in dealing with this virus and they put themselves in harms way to keep us all safe. Thank you to our police department and thank you to all of you.”
