WOODBRIDGE – Woodbridge officials reported 77 new positive COVID-19 cases, including a seven-year-old girl, Mayor John McCormac said in his daily report on April 9.
The total positive COVID-19 cases reach 537. This is the second highest daily total in the past week. Township officials reported 80 new cases on April 6.
“The cases are across all age groups and they are located through all areas of the township,” he said.
The mayor noted there is at least one other positive case in the household of the seven-year-old girl, who tested positive.
“Our Health Department has not yet completed its investigation into this case, but we are finding many cases of multiple people that live together being sick at the same time, ” he said
McCormac added the township has not been getting reports of deaths of Woodbridge residents from COVID-19 from any official sources.
“Hospitals have not been able to keep up with breaking down numbers by town,” he said, adding death certificates are coming in with “pending” in the box for “Cause of Death” or sometimes with the box blank.
“However, we know from calls we are getting and calls we are making that some more of our residents have passed away from complications of coronavirus and we should always keep them in our thoughts and prayers,” he said
The vast majority of people from the township’s earliest cases have reported being symptom-free and back to work.
“That is the best news we can hear,” McCormac said.
