MILLTOWN – Food pantries at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and United Methodist Church are requesting food and toiletry donations.

Milltown Mayor Trina Mehr mentioned the request during her COVID-19 update to residents on April 9. She said donations can either be dropped off outside of the churches – St. Paul’s United Church Christ, 62 S Main Street, and United Methodist Church at 47 N Main Street, or monetary donations can be made through the church websites.

“The pastors [of both churches] are assisting many families and anticipating even more,” she said, adding plastic bags are needed as well.

Mehr updated residents on COVID-19 cases and borough news. Milltown has a total of 23 positive cases of COVID-19, according to Middlesex County on April 13.

The borough is enforcing fines of littered personal protective gear, which can bring fines up to $2,000.

The mayor said borough services are continuing through the pandemic with modifications in schedules to keep employees safe. Mehr said the borough purchased a sanitizing air spray for borough vehicles and other surfaces to further protect borough employees.

Mehr said county and state websites offer resources for local businesses in need of help.
