Forty firefighters respond to fire on Old New Road in Monmouth Junction

SOUTH BRUNSWICK – The Monmouth Junction Fire Department was dispatched to 47 Old New Road for a fire in the residence around 7 p.m. on April 15.

Fire Chief Scott Smith and South Brunswick police officers arrived to find a fire inside a bedroom on the second floor and all residents out of the home, according to reports.

Firefighters performed an aggressive fire attack and were able to contain the fire to the single bedroom.

Forty firefighters from Monmouth Junction, Kendall Park and Kingston responded to the 1-alarm fire. All units cleared the scene just before 9 p.m., reports stated.

The home suffered heat and smoke damage and was deemed uninhabitable, officials said. Residents are staying with family members in the area, according to reports.

The fire is under investigation by the South Brunswick Township Fire Safety Bureau.
