Upper Freehold bridge will be reconstructed

UPPER FREEHOLD – The Monmouth County Board of Freeholders has awarded a contract to CMS Construction Inc., Plainfield, for the reconstruction of a bridge on Holmes Mill Road in Upper Freehold Township.

During a meeting on April 21 in Freehold Borough, the freeholders voted 5-0 to award a $1.72 million contract to the company to reconstruct the bridge that is designated as U-38 and carries Holmes Mill Road over Miry Run.

According to a resolution, the project was advertised and bids were received by the Division of Purchasing on March 25. Ten bids were received and referred to the Division of Engineering for tabulation, examination, report and recommendation.

CMS Construction was determined to be the lowest responsible and responsive bidder in the total amount of $1,718,649 and the Division of Engineering recommended that the company be awarded the contract.

Funding for the project is available in the 2020 county budget, according to the resolution.

The contract is subject to the approval of the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
