SOUTH RIVER–The South River Police Department has been notified by the Middlesex County Health Department that a total of 33 additional residents tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) from April 26 to May 2.
This brings the total number of cases in South River to 200. The police department has not been advised if these new cases are isolating at home or hospitalized, according to a prepared statement from the South River Police Department.
The daily breakdown of the new cases is as follows:
- April 26 had 12 positive cases confirmed
- April 27 had no positive cases
- April 28 two positive cases were confirmed
- April 29 had five positive cases
- April 30 one positive case was confirmed
- May 1 had nine positive cases
- May 2 had four confirmed positive cases
Two additional residents have passed away due to COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to four, according to the statement.
To date, the police department has not been notified of any cases having fully recovered. This does not mean that none of the cases have recovered. The police department is just not being informed of the total number of recoveries, according to the statement.
Although the police department cannot reveal specific locations or areas where positive COVID-19 cases are located, officials said the cases are evenly distributed throughout the town and there does not seem to be a cluster or hotspot in any one location or area of South River, according to the statement.
The department is providing weekly updates every Saturday. New cases will continue to be updated daily on the COVID-19 page on the police department’s website, according to police.
