New COVID-19 cases in Monroe range in age from 65 to 106

MONROE – Monroe officials reported seven new positive COVID-19 cases on May 9, bringing the total number of cases to 585, according to the Monroe Township Office of Emergency Management (OEM).

The new cases include six residents in long-term care facilities and one community wide. The age range of the cases are from 65 to 106. The cases include four females – a 72 year old, an 81 year old, a 92 year old, and a 106 year old, and three males – a 65 year old, a 69 year old, and a 76 year old.

Monroe has lost 67 residents to COVID-19, 51 in long-term care facilities and 16 community-wide.

Monroe Township OEM has issued more than 2,000 pieces of personal protective equipment to the Monroe Stop and Shop in the Concordia Shopping Center. A face mask can be requested at the courtesy desk if needed.

Antibody testing is now available along with COVID-19 testing at MyInstaDoc, 298 Applegarth Road for anyone wishing to be tested. The facility will serve pre-registered COVID-19 testing patients from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Antibody blood testing will be conducted in-office by appointment.

To be considered, a patient must be free from all COVID-19 symptoms for no less than 14 days. This test will assess them for subclinical infection in the past.

The COVID-19 drive-thru testing site serves pre-registered patients from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and drive-up patients from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays. Pre-register at www.myinstadocmonroe.com or call 609-207-3220 to speak with a medical professional. A person does not have to be symptomatic to be tested.

MyInstaDoc has tested 2,222 people as of May 8, 29% have tested positive for COVID-19.
