South River police confirm 34 additional COVID-19 cases, two deaths since last week

SOUTH RIVER–The South River Police Department has been notified by the Middlesex County Health Department that a total of 34 additional residents have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

This brings the total number of cases in South River to 234 as of May 9.

As the department is releasing numbers once a week, the daily breakdown of the new cases is as follows:

  • On May 3 there were nine positive cases
  • On May 4 there were four positive cases
  • On May 5 there were two positive cases
  • On May 6 there were an additional four positive cases
  • On May 7 there was one positive case
  • On May 8 there were eight positive cases
  • On May 9 there were six positive cases

As of May 9, two additional residents have passed away due to COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths in the borough to six.
