METUCHEN – Metuchen has lost one more resident to COVID-19, according to information provided by Middlesex County.

The borough has 127 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases as of May 29 and has lost three residents, according to Middlesex County.

The Borough Pool Commission has decided to cancel the 2020 summer pool season, which includes the Metuchen Municipal Pool (MMP) Swim and Dive team.

Jonathan Miller, chair of the pool commission, said the difficult decision is to protect residents, pool patrons, staff and summer program participants from the spread and infection of COVID-19; minimize the known and unknown, health, safety and facility risks; and provide for the short and long-term financial stability of the borough’s self-sustaining pool utility.
