South River police, protestors work together for peaceful march on June 5

A protest to condone what took place in Minneapolis is planned for 3 p.m. June 5 in front of South River police headquarters, 61 Main St.

This will also include a planned march that will be accompanied by a police escort at all times.

South River police have met with the individuals who are organizing this event with the goal of ensuring the safety of residents and participants. The communication between the department and the event’s organizers will continue multiple times a day leading up to the event, according to information provided by the department.

The police department has taken the necessary measures to protect demonstrators, residents and businesses in expectation of a peaceful demonstration.

Streets near police headquarters and in the downtown area are subject to closure during this protest and march. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and plan another route, if possible.
