In what was a tool to make it easier for customers to connect with area restaurants, the Metuchen Delivers campaign has taken on a new profound meaning in the wake of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

METUCHEN – Metuchen has reported zero new COVID-19 cases four days in a row.

The total COVID-19 cases in the borough remain at 129 as of June 6. The borough has lost three residents to the virus, according to Middlesex County.

Outdoor dining, retail applications for expanded use of public sidewalks, public parking, public streets and private spaces are available on the borough’s website. Gov. Phil Murphy announced outdoor dining will resume on June 15.

The borough’s Recreation Department is expected to release information on the availability of summer sports camps. Once permitted to return, all Metuchen-based youth sports non-profit organizations and borough summer sports camps will be given field priority, Mayor Jonathan Busch has said.

The Borough Pool Commission has canceled the 2020 summer pool season, which includes the Metuchen Municipal Pool (MMP) Swim and Dive team.

Bulk and metal pickup resumed on June 1. To accommodate as many residents as possible, the township’s Department of Public Works will limit pickups to no more than three items per home. To schedule a pickup call 732-632-8519.
