South Brunswick Walks for Justice march set for June 12

Two South Brunswick High School alumnae, Essence Baker and Jada-Rae Poku, will walk alongside the South Brunswick community with the message “Black lives matter, and we demand justice” at 4:30 p.m. on June 12 during the South Brunswick Walks for Justice march.

The 3.3-mile march will start and end at South Brunswick High School, 750 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick. Expected end time is 7:30 p.m.

“Having grown up in our lovely town, we have always loved being able to look at our fellow classmates and neighbors and to see so much diversity. It is that diversity that we aim to continue to unite and encourage,” the two said in a press release.

Invited guests and speakers include Scott Feder, South Brunswick School District superintendent; Andrew Zwicker, a member of New Jersey’s General Assembly; Cantor Bruce Rockman, South Brunswicks’s Interfaith Clergy Association chair, and a few others.

Protesters are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.
