A Fords man was charged with allegedly causing a car crash while eluding police, which injured two people in Old Bridge, according to Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L.C. Kuberiet and Chief William Volkert of the Old Bridge Police Department.
Gregory Kazdan, 18, of the Fords section of Woodbridge, was charged with one count of eluding in the second degree and two counts of aggravated assault for causing bodily injury while eluding in the second degree, the prosecutor’s office said in a release on June 24.
Old Bridge police were attempting to pull over Kazdan while he was allegedly traveling on the shoulder of Route 9 north and passing vehicles at a high rate of speed at approximately 3:35 p.m. on June 24, according to an investigation by Detective Jonathan Berman of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Kazdan, who was driving a 2019 white Mercedes Benz, allegedly proceeded to run a red light at the intersection of Route 9 north and Old Mill Road and struck a 2014 Ford Focus. Both the driver, a 42-year old woman, and her 15-year old passenger, were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for the injuries they sustained in the crash, police said.
The investigation is active and is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Berman at 732-745-4328.
Kazdan is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick pending a detention hearing.
