Gov. Phil Murphy issued an executive order back in April to have the U.S. flag flown at half-staff indefinitely. Really?! Don’t you know that if you repeat something enough it loses its meaning?
So, you have the U.S. flag flown at half-staff for the New Jersey citizens who have died of COVID. OK. What about all the other New Jersey citizens who have died because they can’t get to a doctor or a hospital because of your order to “shelter in place?”
We are about to celebrate July 4, the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Continuing to fly the flag at half-staff is not only meaningless but disrespectful to the men and women who have given their lives to protect our freedom. Do the right thing and raise the flag.
