The South Brunswick Office of Emergency Management is providing a weekly update of positive COVID cases in town, and is also tracking the number of EMS calls and the number of motor vehicle crashes, to give officials a snapshot of the virus spread and the impact on the community.

Last week, there were only six new positive residents who tested positive for COVID-19, according to information released on June 29.

However, as more people are going out and traveling, there has been an increase in motor vehicle crashes.

The number of EMS calls has shown a steady increase but there is no indication the calls are connected to the virus, according to the statement.

There are currently 441 total cases of residents who have tested positive, as of June 29. This number reflects both residents and people living in long term care facilities in the township. A total of 29 lives have been lost in the South Brunswick due to the novel coronavirus; 16 of those who have died have been connected to long term care facilities in the township.

Middlesex County has a total of 16,685 residents who have tested positive as of June 29. Last week, the county recorded an average of 15 new cases per day, which is the lowest since March, according to the statement.
