JACKSON – The Jackson Planning Board expects to begin hearing testimony regarding the south section of the proposed Jackson Parke residential development during its Aug. 17 meeting at the municipal building.
The application for the south section of Jackson Parke proposes the construction of 549 single-family and multi-family residences on a 129-acre tract off West Veterans Highway in the Cassville section of Jackson.
The south section of Jackson Parke is expected to include 100 affordable housing units.
Affordable housing is defined as housing that is sold or rented at below market rates to individuals and families whose income meets certain guidelines.
The Jackson Parke (south section) application was on the board’s agenda for June 15 and June 22, but technical issues with the livestream broadcasts of the meetings resulted in no substantive testimony being offered.
The board’s attorney, Sean Gertner, told the Tri-Town News this week the parties have agreed to start testimony on Aug. 17 when the meeting will be permitted to be held in town hall, under meeting room capacity guidelines that will be in effect with the easing of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.
In April, board members granted preliminary approval to the north section of the Jackson Parke application.
The Jackson Parke application was the subject of litigation and the board members were acting on an order from a state Superior Court judge to reconsider their previous denial of the north section.
The preliminary approval is for 551 single-family and multi-family residences on a 226-acre tract off Perrineville Road, also in the Cassville section of the township.
The north section of Jackson Parke is expected to include 120 affordable housing units.
