East Brunswick officers save man from jumping over N.J. Turnpike bridge

EAST BRUNSWICK–East Brunswick Patrolmen Rob Thuring and Ryan Hensperger saved a man from falling over a New Jersey Turnpike bridge on June 21.

Lt. Frank Sutter said the incident took place on Route 18 near Naricon Place around 5:21 p.m. after police received 911 calls about a male who was walking in the roadway, then who was on the other side of the railing on the New Jersey Turnpike bridge.

Arriving on the scene, Thuring said the victim was on the other side of the railing and that he lifted his shirt to wipe his face. Thuring said that is when he grabbed the victim and Hensperger was also able to grab him as well, according to reports.
Hensperger said once he grabbed the victim he let go and his feet were dangling off the railing.
