Middlesex County College athletes soar academically

Middlesex County College athletes performed in the classroom as well as on the playing field this year. Sixty-five received academic honors for the 2019-20 year.

Three MCC squads – softball, volleyball and golf – averaged a 3.0 grade point average or higher, making them All National Junior College Athletic Conference teams. Twelve athletes were named to the national academic team: Rebecca Anzano (Colonia), Volleyball; Alyiah Santos (Woodbridge), Basketball; Angel Quiles (Perth Amboy), Basketball; Thomas Evans (Parlin), Golf; Jake Guensch (Fanwood), Golf; Nicholas Hoffman (South Brunswick), Soccer; Sean Joyce (Staten Island), Baseball; Megan McGlynn, (Hopelawn) Volleyball; Ryan McNamara (Bayonne), Baseball; Frank Stalteri (Old Bridge), Cross Country; Kenneth Tunison (Dunellen) Baseball; and Samuel Duffy (Woodbridge), Baseball.

Each of them were also named to the All-Academic Garden State Athletic Conference team and the All Academic Region 19 team. The following student-athletes were named to one or both of those teams during the season of their sports:
