NORTH BRUNSWICK – On Aug. 13, Gov. Phil Murphy issued Executive Order 175, officially allowing school districts to begin the academic year with virtual-only instruction. The governor’s announcement changes his initial June 26 reopening guidance, which required New Jersey school districts to provide in-person instruction to start the 2020-21 school year.

Accordingly, North Brunswick Township Public Schools will be submitting a plan to the New Jersey Department of Education to provide all students instruction through a virtual learning platform for the first marking period of the 2020-21 school year.

“As this insidious virus continues to provoke changes in the state’s operational designs, the district will reevaluate by mid-October the status of virtual only education. This will allow sufficient time regarding decisions for the year’s second, third and fourth marking periods,” Superintendent of Schools Brian Zychowski said in a letter to parents dated Aug. 17.

All district plans, schedules and updated information will be broadcast on local Channel 15. These frequent broadcasts and all of the district news will also be posted on a dedicated page of the district’s website.
