Spotswood council introduces ordinance establishing truck restriction on various roads

SPOTSWOOD–The Borough Council introduced an ordinance which, if adopted, will amend the municipal code by adding a section excluding registered trucks from driving on various streets.

Trucks registered 4 tons gross weight or over are excluded from the entire length of Snowhill Street, Crescent Avenue, Brunswick Avenue and Adirondack Avenue.

Any violation will result in a mandatory court appearance as well as a fine of $250 to $2,000, according to the council.

The council introduced and approved the ordinance on Sept. 9 during the council meeting via video conference. The second and final reading is scheduled for Sept. 14.

This ordinance will take effect upon final passage and publication according to law.
