NORTH BRUNSWICK – Families can pick pumpkins outdoors to carve at home. Children want to dress up in costume. Families are having Zoom costume parties.
“Halloween 2020, from a community standpoint, with Halloween being a major holiday, people want to celebrate. Even though things may look a little different this year, it’s important to allow family traditions to continue,” said Vincent Nicastro, whose Halloween Wholesalers store is open at The Shoppes at North Brunswick.
“We encourage people to dress up this year, to have fun to take their mind off the things we have gone through this past year. Children and adults can celebrate safely at home. People can still dress up and walk outside while following social distancing. Families can carve a pumpkin together.”
Nicastro said he expects the most popular costumes this year to be “Black Panther” due to the untimely death of Chadwick Boseman; first responder costumes; family themed costumes like “The Incredibles” and Joe Exotic from the hit Netflix series “Tiger King.”
“We think this year, families will be more excited to come out and celebrate after being cooped up at home for so long. They are looking forward for something to celebrate. Halloween falls on a Saturday this year. When Halloween is on a Saturday people are usually off from work and more people participate in the holiday,” he said.
Nicastro said Halloween Wholesalers will follow the latest protocols recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which include, but are not limited to, requiring customers and employees to wear a mask, sanitizing door handles and high traffic areas, and following social distancing procedures.
“We will be implementing symptom screenings for all employees before the start of their shift. Hand sanitizer will be offered upon entering the store. We will not allow fitting rooms, but will allow exchanges,” Nicastro said.
“From a business standpoint, we feel optimistic customers want some sort of normalcy and will come out to purchase costumes and decorations for the house. We have lowered prices to help the community and help keep Halloween alive.”
