WALL TOWNSHIP – The auto racing season’s highest paying Modified stock car race offering $7,127 to the winner will be in the spotlight on Sept. 19 at Wall Stadium Speedway as the one-third-mile paved oval track presents the 127-lap “Cliff Krause Memorial.”

Krause, the promoter of the speedway who is credited by many people for returning the history-rich oval to prominence, died in January 2018. The Krause family continues to operate the speedway, according to a press release.

Saturday night’s emotional auto racing card will see grandstand seating opening at 4:30 p.m. and support division qualifying at 5:30 p.m. Modified single car time trials are set for 6:10 p.m. and main event action will follow at 7 p.m.

The Modifieds will battle in a 127-lap main event with drivers not only searching for the rich payday, but also for the honor of winning the third annual “Cliff Krause Memorial” race.

Last season, Eric Mauriello of Brick Township won the race. Cliff Krause’s son Andrew Krause was the emotional winner of the first event in 2018, according to the press release.

Current points leader Blake Barney of Jackson, who won the Garden State Classic earlier this season, plans to be in the field, as well as top point earners Ron Frees of Lanoka Harbor, Krause, Kevin Davison of Howell and Eddie McCarthy of Brick Township, according to the press release.

Jimmy Blewett of Howell, Anthony Sesely of Matawan and Roger Coss of Lafayette have each made at least one appearance this season and could be among the participants on Sept. 19.

The Factory Stocks, 4-Cylinder Stocks and Legend Cars will also be on the card, all racing in 25-lap main events.

Wall Stadium Speedway is on Route 34 in Wall Township. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400.
