An emergency contract related to fire alarm panels in municipal buildings has been awarded by the Township Committee in Freehold Township.
On Sept. 8, committee members awarded the emergency contract to Fire Security Technologies for emergency repairs and replacement of fire alarm panels in the construction building and the recreation administration building. The amount of the contract was $8,240, according to a resolution.
Committee members said the work was needed immediately because the lack of fire alarms in the buildings affected public health, safety and welfare.
And, committee members awarded a contract to Central Jersey Trailer and Hitch, LLC, for the purchase of stainless steel spreaders for Department of Public Works trucks. The contract is in the amount of $26,514.
Finally, the committee members passed a resolution to adopt the 2019 audit. Municipal officials said the audit did not contain any recommendations and because of that fact, a corrective action plan was not required.
The Marlboro Farmers Market, which was initially scheduled as a summer market, will be extended for six weeks. The market, at 444 Route 520, just west of Route 79, Marlboro, will continue to operate every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. until Oct. 25, according to a press release from the township.
The market is in its second season and is averaging more than 600 visitors a week, according to the press release.
Mayor Jon Hornik said, “The market has become a weekly destination for residents and
those in surrounding towns. People want local, fresh food and produce, and especially
during this time, the outdoor experience, the variety and quality has really resonated with
our residents.
“The decision to extend the season was based not only on the market’s popularity, but also on the unique situation presented by COVID-19. The market offers an outdoor shopping environment and people feel safe enjoying it with their families. It feels normal during abnormal times,” he said.
Available products include New Jersey seasonal fruits and vegetables, local honey, herbs,
microgreens, flowers, eggs, meats, cheeses, fresh fish, baked goods, gelato, sauces, dips,
pickles, prepared foods and dog treats.
