After foot chase, Monroe police apprehend Old Bridge woman accused of illegally entering vehicle on River Road

MONROE – The Monroe Township Police Department Detective Bureau was conducting a surveillance operation in the early mornings of Sept. 28 due to numerous vehicle burglaries that have happened over the past few weeks.

Detectives allegedly observed a woman, later identified as an Old Bridge resident, enter Monroe Township on Texas Road, park her vehicle on River Road at approximately 4:15 a.m. and exit her vehicle. She was reportedly dressed in all black while wearing gloves and carrying a flashlight. Detectives who were on foot surveilled the woman and allegedly watched her enter the driveway of a residence and attempt to enter a pickup truck. It was at this time that the detectives announced their presence and a foot chase ensued, according to information provided by the police department. The woman was apprehended a short distance later.

The woman was charged with multiple vehicle burglaries, attempted vehicle burglaries, possession of burglary tools and theft. She was transferred to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center pending a bail hearing.

Monroe Township detectives remind residents to lock their vehicles at night and call if anyone who seems suspicious in your neighborhoods.
